New Year's Resolutions: What The MyTreat Team Wants Out Of 2023

Apparently, 4 out of 10 people make New Year's resolutions and it’s not too late to join if you’re not in that group.

As a team and brand, here are some of our resolutions and improvements in the pipeline:

  • Introducing a MyTreat membership programme for long-term and regular customers!

And if you need some self-care goals inspo, here are our New Year's resolutions as individuals:

Rosie (MyTreat founder)
"My new year resolution is to help reduce the spread of wilding conifer trees around my region. I have recently started working with a local community group in Central Otago and have had the opportunity to witness some of the infestations that are threatening our natural landscape. Pine trees are a pest plant in NZ because their seeds blow up to 20km and last in the ground for up to 5 years, they outcompete other plants for natural light, and water, and the increase in pine trees has an impact on fuel loading for fires, which when combined with global warming is not great! I want to spend more time being hands-on and working with our local education facilities to encourage little eco-warriors to understand the impact of pines. If you would like to know more about it, you can follow the journey at @centralotagowildingconifers on Instagram or visit this website."

Kylie (social media)
"My NY resolution is to try and start my own vegetable patch and get the kids involved. I want them to learn about from the garden to the table and that not everything you eat has to come from a store. With food prices the way they are I want the garden to make me and my family more economical and save a dollar or 10 in the process."

Ruth (systems)
"An oldy but a goody which is to prioritise self-care and protect my peace! One area I have been pushing this on is to jump into the ocean (Wellington-based here!) every day for 5-10 minutes. So far I have managed to do this for the past few months, and I find that it helps to remind me to spend time focusing on myself. Sometimes when I step in it's freezing cold, but I always find my body relaxes into the cold pretty quickly it is an awesome reminder that discomfort passes, and it is possible to wade through it."

Cassie (brand support & marketing)
"To be more mindful! I recently learned that before you go to sleep and as soon as you wake up is a crucial time for your mind, and considered the optimal time to 're-train your brain'. When you focus on positive thoughts and gratitude in these moments, you're likely to feel more positive throughout the day! This totally WORKS, and something I want to do daily throughout 2023!"

Mei Anne (marketing) *newest team member!*
“To only purchase pre-loved clothes. My 2022 New Year’s resolution was to not buy any clothes — old or new. And I managed to pull that off ‘till September! I bought a pre-loved short-suit that was perfect for me! No regrets though. And I think I should be able to achieve my 2023 resolution 'till the end with ease. I have enough clothes; I don’t need a new dress! I can just spend my money on other self-care treats!”

Rachel (supplier procurement)
"My New Year resolution will be to keep my kids alive and work on making more time to do my hobbies, advocate for self-care for mums because we deserve to be looked after too."
