Kanuka For A Kick Of Goodness

About Estate Aromatics

The magic of Estate Aromatics lies with Paul Greaves and Paula Cosgrove. Paul, with his extensive forestry background, developed a patented steam vacuum distillation system to ensure top quality in essential oils. Paula runs Lavender Row, a lavender farm south of Dunedin. Originally from Auckland, she appreciates the rural charm and seasonal variety of the Taieri Plain. Her partnership with Paul has deepened her knowledge and passion for essential oils, allowing them to combine their skills to create high-quality products.

For Paul and Paula, distillation is a labour of love, transforming raw plant material into pure essential oils with each stage revealing unique aromas. As Paula says, “I love watching the process of harvesting the raw plant material right through every stage as it transforms into the oil. The aromas emanating from the still during the distillation are intense and tease you, especially when it’s a new product.”

When asked about her favourite essential oil, Paula cheekily replies, “I’m going to cheat here and choose them all but for different reasons—lavender because it's so versatile; Douglas Fir because I close my eyes and I'm in a forest; Kanuka because of the gentle, fresh smell that somehow makes me feel protected.”
