Drawing from her background as a counsellor, Belinda Noyes created Soulful Moment to offer nurturing solutions for managing life's challenges. Her personal experience as a mother, especially helping her daughter through anxiety, led her to create products designed to promote mindfulness, compassion, and resilience.—including therapeutic jewellery like the Soulful Moment Necklace.
This unique necklace is more than a beautiful piece of jewellery—it’s a mindful breathing tool designed to soothe emotions, slow racing thoughts, and calm the nervous system. Worn as a pendant, it doubles as a discreet breathwork aid that helps anchor you in the present moment by gently exhaling through the whistle to quiet the mind and activate the senses.
In this Q&A, Belinda opens up about the deeper struggles so many of us face—especially when it comes to self-kindness—and how small, mindful practices can help us reconnect, reset, and truly take care of ourselves.
As a counsellor, what are some of the most common struggles people come to you with?
A lot of the time what people think is the problem is really only a symptom. At the core of what most people struggle with is the relationship with ourselves. What we think, what we believe, how we treat ourselves. I find women, in particular, are so hard on themselves—they judge themselves and treat themselves in a way they never would anyone else.
Many people struggle with self-compassion—why do you think it’s so hard to be kind to ourselves?
For my generation (as Gen X)—a lot of us weren’t taught to have self-kindness and compassion. There was a lot of unintentional emotional neglect in the 70s and 80s, and we have to learn how to be kind, compassionate, supportive, and nurturing to ourselves as adults—which can be hard because we are breaking the pattern of years of self-abuse (sometimes decades).
What inspired you to create the Soulful Moment Necklace?
My daughter was suffering from severe anxiety and panic attacks when she was at college. I had seen different breathing necklaces, but the Soulful Moment one also invokes the sense of hearing because you try to breathe softly so it doesn’t whistle. Getting in touch with your senses when anxious is a good thing to do because it gets you out of your head and back into your body.
Why is breathwork such a powerful tool for managing anxiety?
It brings you to the present moment. The breath is the only essential thing we must have constantly. It brings your focus back into your body. Our thoughts often create the anxiety, so if we can create some space between them, if we can ground and centre ourselves, then we can choose a different way of thinking, which will produce a different feeling.
How can beginners start using the Soulful Moment Necklace in daily life?
The necklace helps you put your focus on breathing—because if you are breathing, you are okay. Wearing your necklace will remind you that when you start to feel anxious, focus on your breath, returning to the present moment. Anxiety is designed to keep you safe, so it is a good idea to add the mantra, “In this moment, everything is okay; in this moment, I am okay.”
Even seeing the necklace in the mirror can be a gentle prompt to speak kindly to yourself and soften your inner dialogue.
